Found the strange female which in the time I found it layed more than 100 eggs. The truth is I left most of them on the field, and I raised 5 caterpillars, but for no reason all of them died but one. The wild caterpillars might gone higher on the trees because this is usually a specie that the larvae feeds on the top of the trees.
The caterpillar changed many times, I could then photograph all instars.
The caterpillar fed on Quercus robur, Quercus suber and other kind of Quercus, which I do not know the species.
The caterpillar in early instars is very cheeky and always walking from one side for another. In the last instar, the caterpillar is very slow but eats fast.
When it felt secure, it made a silk cocoon.
Later this beautiful Moth emerged. (Sorry about the quality, I just had a chance to take a photo, because it flew right away).
I hope to find one of these again, it was nice to find.
Encontrei a fêmea desta espécie e nesse mesmo tempo na caixa onde a guardei para fotografar ela colocou mais de 100 ovos. A verdade é que a maioria deles coloquei no campo, e criei 5 lagartas, mas por alguma razão a maioria delas morreram, menos uma. As lagartas que soltei dão indícios que comeram vegetação rasteira, mas provavelmente subiram a árvore pois esta espécie a lagarta é típica de alimentar-se no topo das árvores.
A lagarta mudou várias vezes, e consegui fotografar todos os instars.
A lagarta alimentou-se em Quercus robur, Quercus suber e uma outra espécie de Quercus, que não sei a espécie exacta.
As lagartas nos primeiros instares era atrevida e mexia-se bastante e anda de um lado para o outro nas folhas. Nos últimos instars, a lagarta movia-se lentamente mas comia muito.
Quando chegou a altura certa, fez um casulo de seda.
Mais tarde saiu esta linda borboleta Nocturna (Desculpem a qualidade, só tive tempo de tirar uma foto, ela voou logo de seguida).
Eu espero voltar a encontrar mais destas, pois foi mesmo bom as criar/encontrar.
