Depois de uma caminhada por Faro, por sorte olhei para um malmequer bravio encontrei este geometridae a caminhar na corola da planta. Recolhi e apercebi me que esta se alimentava das flores.
Depois de alguns dias a colocar várias flores e a ver que comia quase todas as que colocava (Desde Malmequeres bravios a Echium sp.) esta desapareceu.
Por momentos pensei que tinha fugido. Quando ia a abrir as flores para ver se estava a comer dentro das mesmas por surpresa encontro-a já em pupa.
Depois deu esta magnifica criatura que é tão comum no nosso país.

After a Strolling in Faro, by chance, when I looked to the wild daisies I found this geometridae walking in the plant's corolla. I caught it and I started noticing It was feeding up on the flower itself.
After some days of putting various flowers I finally found out it fed basically in almost everything that was flower (Since Daisies to Echium sp.). Later I found out that it disappeared.
For a moment I thought it run out. When I was starting to open the flowers to see if it was feeding inside of them, surprisingly I found it already in pupa.
Later this turned up to this beautiful critter which is common in Portugal

The Caterpillar Fed on Mentha. Found in a beautiful strolling in the woods.
A Lagarta alimentava-se de Menta. Encontrada num belo passeio na mata.

Found it in Galactites tomentosa wich I found out very interesting the way it fed. I gave later Malva sp. The Butterfly is beautiful, but after some shots it flew away so the last picture is not from the born butterfly but from another, but I didn't want it to be uncompleted

Encontrei-a em Galactites tomentosa. o que achei interessante a maneira dela comer as folhas. Mais tarde alimentei-a com Malva sp. A borboleta é linda e depois de alguns dispáros ela voou, assim que a ultima foto não é da mesma, mas de outra que tinha fotografado noutra altura, mas queria publicar o crescimento para não ficar incompleto.

Utetheisa pulchella aka Crimson-speckled Flunkey

This beautiful moth is very common in South Of Portugal, between end of August and beginning of October. They are very colorful and it is notable to see them. They even go nearby the beach. The Moth I got had put at least 50 eggs, which all hatched, and time by time I decided to set free most of the caterpillars because despite of what I was thinking this caterpillar really feeds fast, maybe because in the time the eggs hatched their favorite food (Heliotropium spp)  was getting out of the season. Although I first fed them with Echium spp because they hatched in Porto firstly. The caterpillar like I said fed very fast, and it was a beautiful caterpillar which there were many different pardons. Despite of what I was searching, the caterpillar doesn’t need to bury itself. Some of them buried and others just made a silk cocoon. Later they hatched beautiful and healthy.

Esta linda borboleta nocturna é bastante conhecida e comum no Algarve na altura de Setembro a Outubro em que é reconhecida automaticamente pelos padrões e cores que esta tem nas asas. Elas mesmo podem se encontrar perto da praia ou mesmo na praia. A borboleta que apanhei colocou mais de 50 ovos, os quais todos eclodiram, e tempo a tempo comecei a libertar algumas pois eram imensas pois eu pensava que as lagartas iam se alimentar de vagar, mas não, elas alimentaram-se bastante rápido, talvez porque a sua comida favorita (Heliotropium spp) estava a ficar fora de época. Contudo eu alimentei-as primeiramente com Echium spp porque estas eclodiram no Porto. A lagarta, como disse, alimentou-se bastante rápida e tinha vários tons de cor. Depois do que procurei sobre a sua fase pupa, elas não necessitam de se enterrarem. Algumas enterraram-se, outras ficaram nas suspensões da planta que se alimentam, formando um casulo de seda. Mais tarde elas eclodiram.
