Vanessa atalanta aka Red Admiral is an amazing daylight butterfly. It feeds in Portugal , only between the close leafs of nettles. Although many might still be victims of parasites. I had 3 and only one was free of wasps. It is such a beautiful butterfly and it loves to lay on the sun opening its wide wings.
Vanessa atalanta conhecida por Almirante Vermelho Europeu, é uma borboleta diurna lindíssima Em Portugal, apenas se alimenta de folhas de urtigas na qual se refugia. Contudo, continua a ser vitima de parasitismo. Eu tinha 3 larvas, mas apenas uma ficou livre de parasitismo. É uma borboleta lindíssima e adora parar e esticar as suas asas ao sol.

Phragmatobia fuliginosa. Novamente uma das minhas favoritas. Esta foi encontrada no Outono, e sobreviveu 2 meses sem comer alguma coisa. Foi fascinante!
Phragmatobia fuliginosa aka Ruby Tiger. Again, one of my favorites. This one was found in the autumn, and it survived like 2 months without eating a thing. It was fascinating!

ENCONTRADA NA SERRA DO CALDEIRÃO E CRIADA EM FARO
FOUND IN SERRA DO CALDEIRÃO AND RAISED IN FARO
Charaxes jasius , também conhecida como Borboleta-do-Medronheiro, é uma das Borboletas Diurnas mais bonitas de Portugal. A sua Lagarta é extremamente bonita e difícil de encontrar na vegetação dos Medronhos. Demorei 3 horas para encontrar a larva desta, e a sua criação foi simples. Estas alimentam-se no nosso país simplesmente e apenas só de folha de medronho. Foi bastante simples de criar-la, o único ''problema'' será ter folhas de medronho para a sua alimentação.
Charaxes jasius aka Foxy Emperor is one of the most beautiful butterfly from Portugal. The caterpillar is extremely beautiful but difficult to find on the green leafs of Strawberry trees. I spent 3 hours to find it, and growing it up was very simple. These in our country only feed of Strawberry Tree leafs. It was very simple to raise it up, the only problem is to have leafs from Strawberry Tree to his feeding.
