Peribatodes rhomboidaria aka The Willow Beauty

PT:
Envergadura 40-48 mm

Found 2 larvae from the same species, in different plants: Populus nigra and Genista sp. Both looked like draught wood sicks on the vegetation, but its big size made it easy to see. To pupate, the larvae buries itself in the soil, to pupate in 1-2 days.

Cyclophora punctaria aka Maiden's Blush

PT

envergadura 13-22 mm

Archips podana aka Large Fruit-Tree Tortrix

PT

Envergadura 16-26mm

Found this caterpillar in Salix atrocinerea which I fed during the whole development. The caterpillar feeds on the leaf, where she builds a silk tube, to it run up and down to feed on the leaf untill it devours the whole leaf. Once it is done, it builds another silk tube in another leaf, repeating the process. This silk tube is ''hidden'', since the caterpillar does it in the lower side of the leaf whose is ''stuck'' by the silk to another leaf (the upperside of another leaf). (this process is very common in Tortricidae). The caterpillar is a bigger than most of the tortricidae that I've raised. The larvae pupates inside the silk tubes.
Wingspan 16-26 mm

Pachycnemia hippocastanaria aka Horse Chestnut moth

I found two caterpillars of this species in Erica sp, whose I fed on, during the growth. Although the Latin and English name is about horse Chestnut, it doesn’t feed on it.
They are very common in Erica sp. , however I’ve never seen the adult flying or atracted to light.
To pupate, the larvae buried itself.
Wingspan: 28-33mm

Found this little fellow in its host plant (Urtica dioica) which I fed untill the pupa. The caterpillar had these amazing Brownish with spots, which made me very pleased everytime I gave new leaves. The caterpillar when ready to pupate, makes a silk cocoon between dry leaves and makes the pupa inside. Days later it hatches this beautiful moth.
Wingspan 27-29 mm

Nola chlamitulalis aka Jersey Black Arches

EN

Found the Larva in Erica sp, which I found it quite interesting because it was a hairy one and it was so small. For an instance I thought it was from Erebidae Family, but later found out I was mistaken.
I tried to feed it with Cistus sp and Plantago sp, which it responded very well.
Later it produced a silk cocoon (kinda tipical for Nolidae) as shown in the picture.
The moth got off, days later.
The adult moth is active in the night as well as in the day, since I’ve seen many of these sorrounding the places nearby.
Wingspan: 15-18 mm

PT

Envergadura: 15-18 mm
