Agrotis segetum aka Turnip Moth

After many times seen as adult, finally I had the opportunity to raise one my own.
They feed in many low plants. I fed it with Rumex sp.
This one was found by chance in the field, looking already for a place to pupate. The first photos were from a trial, but they died due a fungus.


Depois de muitas vezes vista no seu Imago, tive a oportunidade de criar esta.
Ela alimenta-se em várias plantas de pouco porte. Alimentei-a em Rumex sp.
Esta foi encontrada num caminho de terra, já à procura de um lugar para pupar. As primeiras fotos são de uma criação em casa, nas quais morreram todas por causa de fungos.

Found the caterpillar on the top of a small Quercus rubur. The caterpillar feeds on the spun leaves. They create a silk, so they can use like a tunel and eat the leafs.
Later it formed a cocoon made of small particles of wood, or remaining stuff. `
The moth is very nice and the wings are shiny.Wingspan 19-22 mm


A lagarta foi encontrada num pequeno Quercus rubur. As lagartas alimentam se dos rebentos das folhas. A lagarta nas folhas desenvolvidas cria um local de protecção de seda assim como tuneis feito do mesmo, para alimentar-se das folhas com protecção.
Mais tarde forma uma crisálida feita de partículas e muitas vezes dejectos.
A borboleta é bonita e é brilhante. Envergadura 19-22mm
